Our machine simulates flow changes from a rupture or a kink, nozzle opening and closing. Driver Operators need to be able to recognize different flow conditions so they can respond appropriately. Instructors can give real life scenarios and then use the computer to create a matching flow scenario. We provide scenarios but you can make up your own too!
Beginner Driver Operators Need to Know & Practice:
Pump Panel Operation:
- Startup Procedures: Steps for safely starting the pump and transitioning from the engine to the pump.
- Pressure Control: Adjusting pump pressure to maintain consistent and safe water flow.
- Monitoring Gauges: Reading and interpreting pressure and flow gauges to ensure proper operation.
Water Supply Operations:
- Hydrant Operations: Connecting to and operating from a hydrant, including opening and closing valves.
- Drafting Operations: Setting up for drafting from static water sources, such as ponds or tanks.
- Relay Pumping: Coordinating with other pumps in a relay setup to move water over long distances.
Advanced Driver Operators Need To Know & Practice:
Multiple Lines and Appliances:
- Simultaneous Operations: Managing multiple hose lines with different flow rates and pressures.
- Specialized Equipment: Operating foam systems, deck guns, and other specialized equipment.
Troubleshooting:
- Common Issues: Identifying and resolving common pump problems, such as cavitation, loss of prime, or mechanical failures.
- Emergency Procedures: Handling pump failures or unexpected changes in water supply.
